End turned, spalted bird’s eye maple, spiral growth. The tree from which this vessel was turned was a seedling coincident with the birth of Mozart. Circa the high times of Lincoln and Bismark it was older than anyone on earth. It has endured fire, disease, wars and time. Mozart’s music is still with us. So is the tree.
